How Can I Be Saved?

First things first, God loves you! He wants to forgive you no matter how much you have have rejected Him and sinned against Him in your life. Jesus was clear about this when He said, "For God so loved the world..." (John 3:16). No matter how wicked you may be or how unloved you may feel, when God said that He loved "the world", that included you! Even though we are all sinners, Jesus still loved us all so much that He willingly came to take the penalty of our sins for us!

"But God commendeth [demonstrated] his love toward us, in that,

while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

There are more religions in the world than can be counted, each one claiming to know the way to eternal life, but we can easily narrow all of these down to just two basic religions. First, there are the many false religions that all say the same thing; that we need to "DO" something in order to earn eternal life and favor with God. But then there is the One True Way that says everything has already been "DONE" for us by Jesus Christ! This one says that Jesus purchased our salvation for us on His cross, so He alone can give us the free gift of eternal life.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  John 14:6

Here are the simple steps to becoming saved.

Realize that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.

We all must know and accept that our sins have separated us from God and because of these sins, we must pay an eternal penalty of death separated from God.

"For all have sinned come short from the glory of God."  Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death....."  Romans 6:23

Repent from your sins toward God.

This does not mean turning over a new leaf or reforming our actions in order to be saved. "Repentance" means to change our way of thinking and determine to give GOD glory with our lives. It means to see sin for the destructive evil that it is and to choose a God honoring life.

"Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentace: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. for godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."  2nd Corinthians 7:9-10

Receive Jesus Christ

This means to truly believe and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior; to believe that He died for your sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1st Corinthians  15:3-4). To "believe" in Jesus means place your trust in the real person of Jesus Christ as the only one Who can offer you forgiveness for your sins and to accept that He is the Lord (Master, Boss) of your life.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"  John 1:12

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Romans 10:13

Rest in your eternal salvation

Once a person is saved from eternal damnation by receiving Christ and His FREE gift of eternal life that He purchased with His own blood, that person can never lose the FREE gift of eternal life! If it could be lost, God could not have called it "ETERNAL" life. Rest assured that once you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will never perish. This does not mean that once you have received eternal life you should just sit down and do nothing for your new Lord. In fact, a person who does that is showing they never really repented and received Christ at all. All this does mean is that since you did nothing to deserve your salvation, and since God simply gave it to you because you asked for it with a believing heart, He is the one who keeps you saved and secure by HIS POWER (1st Peter 1:3-5)!

"For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23

"For God so loved the world That He gave his only begotten Son, That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  John 3:16

If you now Realize that you are a sinner, have chosen to Repent in your mind and heart toward God, and are ready to Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord of your life so you can Rest assured that you are forever at peace with God, you can be saved right now! Simply call upon the name of the Lord, confessing Christ as your Savior. There are no magical words, but rather words that come from your heart. Each person's prayer or confession of salvation is personal between that person and God. Here 's a sample prayer to help guide you or to be spoken from your heart in true belief:

"Dear God, I know I am a sinner and that I deserve Hell. I believe You died on the cross, paid the penalty for my sin, and rose from the dead three days later so I could be forgiven and have eternal life with You. I am placing my faith in Jesus Christ alone to forgive my sin and save me. My life now belongs to You. Thank you for giving me eternal life.  In Jesus' name, AMEN."

If you have just received the Lord Jesus Christ through this prayer from your heart or a confession of your own, please remember that you can never lose the salvation He has given you, but also remember that this is just the beginning of a brand new life.
